Visiting western Canada next week for a holiday (vacation)

Hi Guys
I am visiting the Calgary stampede then Banff, Jasper, Edmonton then moving down toward Winnipeg to catch the threshermans reunion before making our way back to Calgary. Are there any vintage/classic tractor dealers or breakers I should stop by when traveling. I am interested in bigger diesels mostly. MF 1130, 1150, jd 5020 etc. Might even be interested in buying something like a MF 97 4x4.
Thanks
Bill

It's not a wrecking yard but when you are in the Edmonton area, you might consider driving 40 minutes southeast of there to the town of Wetaskiwin where you'll find the Reynold's Alberta Museum. It's a transportation and agricultural-based museum that is world class. Check it out on a Google search. Also has an airplane museum there too along with the biggest warehouse of stuff you ever want to lay your eyes on. Sometimes the warehouse is open for tours in addition to the museums on site. Northeast of Edmonton about 40 minutes is a huge tractor wrecker in the town of Lamont. It's called Aldon Auto and they might have something there that interests you and they don't mind people going for a stroll and browsing. Phone Mark at the front desk there, the phone number is 780-423-2236 and he can tell you if there's anyghing in the yard that you'd be interested in.

Gratton Coulee east of Edmonton is a pretty big tractor wrecker. Their at Irma AB. Crazy Horse is right about the museum at Wetaskiwin, well worth the drive.

The tour you are taking is a very nice drive. Lots of good sites to see. I've lived out side of Edmonton all my life.

Hi Bill, if you are making the circle through Alberta give us a call at 780 922 6120 in the Edmonton area, some large collections in the area you may be interested in and we also have a excellent vintage tractor club. Ellis

Bill,
I guess you’ll be driving through Saskatchewan. There are farm equipment dealers in mostly every town, and a lot of small wreaking yards. 1150’s and 5020’s are very common, but I’ve never seen an MF 97 with 4x4. 4x4 is rare here except for artics and modern tractors. I’m from UK originally but now live in SK. There’s a lot of cool stuff here. If you take the Trans Canada, there is a Big Bud for sale on the side of the Hwy, just east of Regina. Get a copy of the Western Producer farm paper.
Have a great trip,
Chris
