See ebay has been ordered to pay 61 million settlement dollars for it vendors selling trade mark violation products. How many listing or sales would that take to cover this? Be years in the courts.

The sellers are trying to get 10 dollars postage for a 1/2 inch ratchet.

Would this ruling also be applied to all auctions? I can't see how the auction company can be expected to know whether something it auctions is what the seller says it is or not.I'm guessing this wasn't in the US right?

My standard reply for years when this statment came up was this is why they have lawyers to sort out the stuff.

U.P.S. got me $7.30 shipping for a $3.27 seal that would have stretched to weigh a half an ounce, so 10 bucks for a ratchet was probably about right.

I have noticed that a lot of items have rediculous shipping charges. This is a top priority other then their feedback. I simply don't buy!

Whats the difference? I still can't drive to any town around here and buy a 1/2 inch ratchet for less than $10 dollars in gas. I might as well have the UPS guy drive it right to my house and save the wear and tear on the car and the aggrevation. Sometimes even high shipping charges are well worth it.

No, UPS didn't get you.

The DAMN parts places that refuse to use the US Mail are what GETS a guy. For us in the rural areas, there's no reason for UPS t o exist.

A gasket or "O" ring that would fit in a 43-cent envelope gets to be about $8 or $10 is shipped by UPS.

Somewhat bigger stuff can be mailed in a flat-rate Priority envelope or box WAY cheaper than UPS, but trying to get a aprts supplier to do that way is about IMPOSSIBLE.

I know that UPS is expensive. I ship almost every thing UPS as it is impossible for me to answer the phone to take orders and drive 10 miles to the post office that closes at noon.

UPS driver drives up to my dock and loads all packages by himself and will wait or come back if I have a late order that needs to go out that day. We have several orders that ill need to go out next day a month. Our post office will sell my the over night stamp but does not offer the service. If I want anything to go over night I would have to drive over 20 miles to a post office that does offer the over night service.

Every manufacturer or parts service will not be located in a city where UPS and the post office would be on even ground service wise.
If you would have to be charged for the extra help to receive the lower shipping cost then the extra persons cost would have to be added to the parts. Or not, and the people they already have employed could be looking for other work.

Remember what ever the postage or the tax will always ultimetly be paid by the consumer.

The people who make Louis Vuitton suitcases and stuff like that won $61 million in French court because eBay allowed people who were not authorized dealers to sell copyrighted stuff. Pure BS as far as I can tell.
