serial number

Would someone please instruct me on where to find the serial number on an old ford tractor. I think it is a 9N or a 2N but I cannot find the serial number. Thank you.

Lay your left hand on the left front wheel and your right hand on the clutch pedal. Now just below the head and right in front of your eyes you should see a flat spot that the numbers should be stamped into
