LP gas engine

I have a Yale forklift that left the factory as a gasoline model. Someone coverted it to LP. I want to convert it back to gasoline. I was told that I need to change the carb and the manifold. Changing the carb is obvious to me. But would the intake manifold have to be changed also? The engine is a 225 cu. in. Slant Six Chrysler. Thanks!

i thing it will work with the manifold try it you need a fuel pump and a gas tank and air cleaner i have seen engines run on gasoline and nartualgas same carburator regulator was just a head of carb. onair intake get the right carb. schuld work with more power good luck art

Art,
Actually, most LP engines were rated at higher HP, mostly due to higher compression. I don't know if this was true for Chrysler Industrial, but sure was for Case and Deere.

Depends on how complete the conversion to LP was.

A true LP engine will have a different manifold. Gas engines need some heat transfer to vaporize the fuel. LP engines vaporize the fuel in the convertor so they don't need this. Also cooler air is more dense thusly has more oxygen thus ability to provide more power. I am not familiar what the setup for heat transfer is on a gas Slant 6 but if the intake and exhaust have no connection you will need to switch manifolds to have a engine that runs well.

some engines used different valves for gas than LP. If someone changed the valves to LP you might want to think about new valves, depending on how long you figure the machine will last. Probably won't be important in this switch tho.
