My tractors on the news

One of the Denver television stations showed up for our neighborhood Fourth of July parade yesterday, and two of my tractors plus some of the family ended up on the news.

I'm driving the 1949 Leader with the big flag on it, and my son-in-law is driving my Farmall H with the canopy. Towards the end they show people looking over a rail fence, that's my daughters & one son in our front yard.

We live in an unincorporated area of Elbert County southeast of Denver. After spending over 20 years in California, its really nice to be back to an almost rural area.

Happy belated 4th.

Congradulations on making the highlight reel! We drove to Denver on June 29th. Saw a fairly big grassfire on I-76 east of Denver. Got to see a Rockies-Padres game. I can't believe how the outskirts of Denver keeps growing....and Colorado Springs too. We talked to some people in Colo Springs. They said that boatloads of people are moving in from California.

Unfortunately is starting to reach out this far. We live in an older development with 3 - 5 acre lots, smaller houses, no covenances, etc. When we moved here three years ago, there was nothing else around. Now there are new houses everywhere you look, there are signs for commercial development, etc. Elbert county has a total population of less than 30,000 people, and every time a developer comes along all the silly commissioners can see is tax $$$. They're even letting in some higher density development, against the wishes of almost everyone except the developers.

One of the reasons for buying here was that our immediate area is as built up as its every going to be, but traffic on the road to town is getting to be noticeably heavier in just the last couple years.

Such is "progress"
