Picked the first cuke today. It's very dry here in MD. I ran the water line out to the garden 15 yeas ago and have been keeping the garden watered.
I don't water the lawn. Tomato vines are loaded & some Early Girl tomatoes should be ripening soon. Hal

Nice looking cuke Hal! Mine started coming in last week, here in Delaware. I've picked about 8 burples and enough for my first batch of pickles. I've had to water quite often. This soil is very sandy and gets dry quick. ~Brian

Finished school at Elkton, played football against a lot of teams in DE. 1950 was my last year to play. My wife has frozem 18 pints of sour cherries and has canned 21 pints. Should taste good next winter. Hal

It is really weird watching the timing of crops across the country considering we are about to till under our spring crop and plant a fall crop of tomatoes before the end of the month.

I had to replalnt my picklers and the are just starting to form on the vine. The first I planted were dry farmed and all but a few got got eaten by something, I think rabbits. The next planting was at the house where I can water them. Dry farmed watermellons doing great if I can keep the crows off of them. Wife always puts up a lot of pickles. Stan

Got first cukes last week, Have been eating Spuds & Gabbage about a month . Tomatos just starting to get ripe. Tried Cages made from Cattle Panels "one makes two cages" with Compost in center for Tomatos this year Seems to be working plants are bigger and have more fruit on them . Am waiting to see how production turns out . will send pic if you like. I live in Western WV. Just south of Huntington .

I use heavy reinforcement wire for cages. I mulch
the tomatoes with shredded paper & grass clippings. I sent you an email. Hal
