any one know of or heard ,seen a elwood mfwd axel on a 30 or 40 series john deere ???? were they bought out by some one ????????? (not the hydraulic front end deere offerd}

are you talking about the one advertised in the Iowa Farmer Today for the last couple months? That was a new one for me also.

Elwood made front ends for most tractors IHC,MF,JD, they sold out but i have lost track if any one is making them or selling parts for them. we had a Massey Ferguson 2805 with a Elwood front worked good after we had a bigger drive shaft made
