How much disc mower for a 65MF?

I have a chance to get a 65 at a nice price and weighing the pros/cons. Will it handle an eight foot disc mower? Opinions on the tractor in general? Problem areas?

I think it will handle the disc mower all right. You may not be able to go as fast as you want to in thick hay. Another issue is the weight of the mower. If it is a heavy type like a Kuhn or NH the front end of the tractor may need a little weight. It also will probably not turn to the left well because the front end will be too light to grip the ground and the tires will slide. You can counter act this by using turning brakes or just turn to the right.

No personal experience with the tractor, but they are very popular, have good resale value, so they must be ok.

Disc mower or mower/conditioner?

depends on the mower I had an 8ft Zetor for a year or two that was too heavy for my Case 1490, but most 3pt disc mowers are a lot lighter.

I mowed with a MF 65 diesel & 5 ft.disc mower. Did a good job but I think thats about the limit.
