OT - - George Carlin

He was one of my favorites - way back to "Al, the hippy-dippy weatherman" to the "7 words you can't say on TV.
 
Iam saddened also. He shold have been President. His insight and humor speeks to deep clarity of reason, with an overlay of humor. JimN
 
I was never a George Carlin fan. Saying dirty words in front of a drugged up audience doesn't come close to comedy in my book. I thought he was older than 71. He certainly looked older.
 
When I was a punk teenager I thought Carlin was funny. But now that I am a parent, and I have learned a better set of morals I think that Carlin was a pig. Saying foul words on stage would be embarrasing for me, but not Carlin. I couldnt even imagine saying the "7" words in front of a woman that I didnt know or have my mother hear me say those words. Andrew Dice Clay is another pig that needs to have a heart attack. Extreme rudeness and foul mouthed antics is not comedy.
 
Carlin was a very intelligent comedian and if you ever heard the "7 words" bit and still think he's a pig then you are missing the point. Like the T-shirt says " If I have to explain it to you then you wouldn't understand".
 
President...what the he-- are you thinking..not in my world.. Never did get turned on by foul language. If I am talking to someone and they start that $hit, I turn and walk away. Good ridance to the foul language. Amen
 
My four year old son loves "Thomas the Tank Engine". Like him or not, I think Carlin did a fabulous job narrating the early ones, way better than the Baldwin brother who did the later ones. Just goes to show, you never can tell.

I grew up with that in the early 90's, he was very good at it. He also did the voice for Fillmore in the movie "Cars"

I checked out his comedy on Youtube, funny stuff but I have to agree it would have been just as funny (to me anyway) without the language.
 
carlin was funny on some points, but when he would starts bashing god, hunters,and all that language i would have to turn away, nobody is that funny in my book
 
I agree with all of your comments. He was great until he started using all that foul language.I bet he wished now that he hadn't bashed God.
 
i thought he was funny when i was younger (teens) now in my 40s(48) tuesday i get the impression he was angry at the world because he couldnt do any better in life

And I thought $hit and He-- were foul language, Wow, Our lady of perpetual hypocricy is at it again, Carlin was a smart man, I believe he used the language in a way to make a point, not to just say it. Thats why its designed for adults, thats why tv,s have buttons, and thats why I choose to live in a free country.

He was a character for sure, not every ones cup of tea by any means...........his act had the potential to make a sailor blush.............

It is sad though, his jokes overall were funny and would have been worth going to aside from the language and gestures. It would have been a riot, but I am not going to pay money to sit through all that. If he would have toned it down just a tad he would have had a MUCH bigger audiance.

People make points every day without having to dip in to the gutter for backup.
