joe --- i like them also ....but i dont have one....

cost to restore is cost of parts, prep. materials and paint.....add them up and youll have it.....Don

Joe,
Restored is always good for a debate. Restored, not leaks stopped and repainted, means factory new condition; new trans bearings and possibly gears, engine overhauled, new tires, new clutch, new guages, new or remanufactured electrics, new steering components, new paint, etc. I have spend 5+ times more "restoring" a JD A that has family meaning that I could have bought a running tractor for.

Not that much anymore. You can go to the Deere dealer and get a 2305 4X4 with hydrostat transmission, diesel engine, 12V electrics, diff lock, remote high volume/high pressure hydraulics, power steering, a real drawbar, roll over protection system,LIVE PTO, three point hitch, etc. Brand new, not previously abused, full warrenty for only $10,000. And it will drag a 2N,9N,8N around like a toy.

Try Stan Strojney at Mosinee, WI. He also goes by Strojny. Stan and his sidekick, Mike Newton, have lots of Ns and know them as well as anyone. If you want to see a cool operation, visit the external_link website. It sounds like you're hung up on Fords. That's OK but don't be afraid to look at some others. Buick & Deere's advice is sound. I like Deere and Kubota. When you factor in the fuel use, assuming you're going to actually use this tractor, you're way ahead with a new diesel.
