Oh Yeah, that's "MY" Nebraska. :>(

One minute, everything is fine and yer headed for a bumper crop, the next you loose it all.

Three years in a row and ya get to have a farm sale. :>(

Hello All,
We are just 30 miles west of Butte in Keya Paha County. Here there are no small grain crops that survived and all of the emerged corn is considered totaled, lots of windows out of houses and car wind shields smashed. Even our pastures are now a worry because the lush green grass is so small and beaten down that it is possible to pick out a mouse walking through the stuff. Also haying has come to a stop because it is not worth cutting now. We still had drifts of hail 36 hours after it stopped. The question every one asks is.........what do we do now ?
Beautiful Nebraska, peaceful prairie land.
Have a beautiful day,
Tom

Ya always learn from hindsight.

Disc 'er all up and plant it to rye. Hay it when it's about 6' tall and feed cattle all winter. :>)

Called the Big White Combine here in Manitoba. Can easily lose a crop in ten minutes. Many have. I have. Probably one of few things worth insuring against (around here). Our normal crop insurance sucks in Manitoba, however Hail Ins. is another matter. In the loooong run I've paid out more in premiums than I've collected. But 15 years ago (when I couldn't have afforded a loss) the story would have been different.

Was hit by hail in the middle 80"s. While trying to figure out what to do with the cattle on pasture for something to eat, the grass come back very fast. I could of chased a mouse all over the pasture right after it happened. Nature balances back pretty fast.
