I have been buying those Jump Start outfits from WalMart and the like. They last a little while and go get another.

Any suggestions on what to get? I have 12 antique tractors and about 2/3 of them have starters!!! So I sure need one. The battery companies like me too.

Thanks

Use a commercial grade maintainer on the batteries. Hooking them in groups that equal 12V, or 6V, if most are, will keep them in top shape. And easily started. JimN

Harbor freight sells a solar battery maintainer that works pretty good, and for 6 volt batteries, you can steal a solar panel off of an old 6 volt fencer, they work good, and cost under $5 at most farm auctions!

When i go to a show, I take a lil light duty dolley ( 20$ harbor freight ).. and a 12v car battery.. bunji the car battery to the tray in the dolley.. then get a good set of jump cables and take the ends off one side, and install them to bat terminal ends.. put a rubber bunji across the top of the dolley, and clip the jumper cables to it for insulation.

Now you got a roll around jump pack better than any portable one you can buy.. just charge it up with your regular battery charger, or clip to your truck while you let it warm up for a couple mornings in a row, and let your automotive 90? amp alternator top it off.

this way you can help others at a show if someone else needs a jump. Probably get 4-5 good 12v jumps ( .. maybee more for 6v tractors..) out of a 29$ walmart battery before it starts going flat..

between the dolley and battery and cables you got about as much $$ tied up as into a good jump pack.. and yours will last longer.. and has a prorated replaceable battery for? 3 ys ( for the cheapy 29$ units.).. plus you can use the dolley for other things when not needing the jump cart.

Hello Don E. Foster.
You did not specify the amperes you need to accomodate your tractors. But you will need a system that will start the higher ampere requirement for the biggest unit you have. We at work made up a cart with 3 group 31 Delco batteries 625 cca each. We put them in parallel for a total 1875cca. Possibly in you case you may need only 2 of them. We used 2 vise grips for the clamps and bolted the other end of the cables of the battery bank. Most of the time jumper cable clamps are fine, but those vise grips sure did the trick!
I can't take the credit for the setup my foreman came up with it. That group 31 625cca battery was the same we used in our trucks.

I have one called the truck pack I believe it is called, mine has 12 and 24 volt cap.it is kind of expensive but it has lasted a long time and will start a bulldozer with no battery in it at all.

No offense intended, but you are leaving this thing plugged in and charging whenever it's not being used, right? My FIL bought one, stuck it behind the truck seat and then wondered why it didn't work! The ones I've bought last about 2-3 years and then kaput.
