And to think people her are complaining about 4" of rain in five days. Mind you the ground here is clay, not sand or even loam.
These natural disasters should all remind us who is really in charge and how fragile life is.

Very wet here also. I am find as I am on higher well drained land. Freinds and neighbors to my north dont need it. Most feilds there are mud, not even tilled up yet. Others that did plant crops are close to under water. I feel real bad for all those out there who are losing their crops in such a high demand year, and think of all those input cost that wont be recouped.

I can't begin to think of what people are going through pertaining the loss of property and land itself.

Additionally, It's hard to see the farmers on TV, their faces carry a solemn, wry, forced smile as they look at the water in the corn.

Prayers sent to the entire midwestern area.

I live by Pella,Ia.... We had 5 1/2 inches so far this week.... up north LOT more....
The Red Rock Dam is suppose to be a flood control for down stream.... they have open it up for whats coming [ heard 55000 gal per sec ]
The people down stream had 24 hours to get out...
It's as bad as 93 if not worse.... 93 was around Des Moines and above.... Now it's the WHOLE state...
That's all I know for now... Mark

Hi Mark, I was thinking about you and those people in your area with all that flooding. We received 21 inches of rain in June 2006. It didn't all come at one time, but caused a lot of flooding in some areas. I live on hill and a lot drained away from us. Thank goodness the power never went off. To much is worse than not enough with all the damage and loss of crops it causes. Hal

With this kind of growing season what's going to happen corn prices and will ethanol plants be able to keep operating when it goes to who knows where? And what about flooded out farmers that already contracted part of their crop?

We had 5" in six hours a couple days ago and close to an inch the next day. Tonight I planted sorghum in my food plot and kicked up dust. We have a lot of light ground.

I'm only "playing"--planting food plots. But I see the flooded fields around us and I've been to Iowa several times. My heart and prayers go out to all of you that are dealing with flooding and lost crops and top soil.
