O.T.-- Leaking PVC Pipe In Slab Exposed To Elements

Folks:

Previous owners of my place built pool when they ought to have built a barn.

Pool pump/filter etc sits on a 7x7 concrete slab. PVC pipe bringing fresh water to pool and then delivering fresh water to pool are presumably under slab but come through the slab vertically ( 90 dgrees to slab ). Water leaks slowly at this juncture --- no stream just continual dampness despite our Louisiana sun.

Question: Is there a way to repair the PVC pipe short of jack-hammering the slab ? Seems to be a long shot but much wisdom and experience on this Board.

Dig down and find the under ground pipe just befor the slab......
Dig large enough hole to add 8 or 10" of gravel and install under ground shut off hydrant....fill pool with garden hose.....

A 7X7 slab can be lifted. Dog four sides (not corners) and make a place for jacks and a nice piece of solid concrete block to jack on. use four jacks, and lift it up to service a new pipe I would use a burried pipe at least one foot below frost line, and a frost proof hydrant to prevent winter freezing. Block UP the concrete if getting under it at all!! JimN

Find out at which side of the slab the fresh water supply line is coming in. Dig down and cut that supply line. Install an elbow and bring a new pipe straight up at the side of the slab and then over to the existing input line at the pump. Cut off the existing supply line at the top of the slab. You have just routed around the leak point under or at the top of the slab.

from and expert do as vern said the way it should be repaired leak is from a split prob caosed by the concrete shifting or sinking slightly
