Will a bad governor make a tractor overheat?

Will a bad, sluggish, or wore out governor make a DC Case tractor overheat? How much does it cost to get a governor rebuilt? Thanks

I don't think the gov. would have anything to do with over hearting, but retarded ignition timing will.

Why are you looking at the governor when it has nothing to do with the cooling system? What's the story on the tractor? Any work done to the cooling system?

No, it wouldn't cause it to overheat. If it's overheating, I'd first check the ignition, and make sure it's running when it should be. If the mag is set correctly, then I'd look at the waterflow through the radiator core. Are you getting good flow, or is it really slow moving? Could the core be plugged up at the bottom? Could be the water pump. I'd focus on those things to cure the problem.

I know the governor on the tractor needs to be rebuilt. How do I check to see if the water pump is working? I also forgot about tightening the fan belt. Thanks for all the inputs so far.

I doubt it. There is evidence that suggest a bad governor will cause a lot of taxpayers to overheat.

a bad, worn out governor may not make your tractor go bad but we had a bad, worn out governor here in Connecticut and he made the state go bad. ( he went to jail!)

Connecticut governor was John Rowland and he went to jail for taking money, gifts, etc. He only got 10 months, but at least he was out of office. Got his lieutenant governor now, a woman and she is really good, nothing like him!
