Mixing Milestone Broadleaf Herbicide

Just picked up the herbicide for the EQUIP pastures and I can't find the mix rate for ounces per gallon of water. It only recommends 4 to 7 ounces per acre. How should I mix it by the gallon for thistles and dandelions out in the pasture?

Most use from 10 to 20 gallon of water an acre.

So it looks like about an ounce to 3 or 4 gallon would work.

Read the label for how soon you can pasture after spraying.

Thanks Gary!

Label and web site said there is no waiting period for grazing.

3 gallons of water to one ounce of milestone. Sounds kinda weak to me, but alright!

It depends on what your sprayer is set up for. Mine sprays 10 gallons per acre @ 4 mph and so for me that would be 4 to 7 ounce per 10 gallons of water.
Milestone is really effective and that"s reflected in the price. I get it for $90 a qt from the local weed board. It"s overkill for dandelions but hell on canada thistles.

If you are spot spraying with a hand gun, you always get more on the plant than if itwere broadcast sprayed.

1 ounce will kill a lot of thistles

Unless the label gives a spot treatment rate, usually as a % of volume, you need to know how much water you put out per acre. It"s a pretty simple process. Check on the TeeJet website for calibation techniques. If you are using a hand or backpack sprayer, here"s a quick way to calibrate:
1. Mark off an area 18.5" x 18.5"
2. Spray the entire area completely with water, timing how long it takes to do so.
3. For that same amount of time, collect spray in a bucket.
4. The number of ounces collected is your GPA, gallons per acre. Once you know this, you can accurately determine the ounces of product needed in each tank, or fraction thereof.

Been peachy-keen so far! We've got lots of rain to get the pastures under their own power and calving's almost over. Everything is fine and thanks fer askin'!
