Doing an overhaul, gas, you normally take out 30ths. to shape up cylinder walls so you put bigger pistons and rings in, does the same apply to diesels also. If so should a reman diesel run a bit stronger, would they put better head bolts in and gaskets. Thanks, hope you can understand this.
The reason I ask is Ford put a reman engine in my truck and it seems like it is stronger then a new engine.
 
If it was rebored, it should have a little more airflow and thus put out a bit more power all other things being equal. I doubt that it would be noticeable, though.

My guess is that your old engine was running poorly and now with the new engine running correctly, you feel the additional power you should have had with the old engine.
 
The reason I would like to know is the diesel engine in truck before had 11,000 miles and came totally apart, took chunks out of block so Ford put a reman in it, it feels different totally than other engine. truck, 05 ford
 
Don, I'm thinking that if yours came apart at 11,000miles it probably was never right. So now you are feeling the way it should have been all along.
 
It's an f 350 dually 6.0 engine
05 year. Truck now has 6,000 mile on new engine, no leaks and run good.
 
I DID!!! Man I didnt know what I was missing! So far, my mileage is better than my Stroke, but it doesnt hold as much fuel. The power of this Duramax is outstanding, and the Allison makes it so much better to boot. Had i not gotten the deal I got on his thing, I would have opted for a 6.0 gas, but af ter several conversations with DMAX owners, Im glad i went the diesel route. It may be more at the pump, but hopefully it will do as Im told and get on up more as I break it in.(I guess somebody is going to come on and give me a lecture about how wrong I am about it, but I dont care, Been there Done that!
