Bobcat 763C Electrical Issue

Hello All:

I have a 1996 Bobcat 763C that ran fine. I steam cleaned it to work on it now it will not start. The battery checks out good. Now, the lights wont come on on the dash or the BICS lights won't come on, you turn the key and it does nothing. If you hook a battery charger to the starter, all the lights come on on the dash, the amp gauge shows 13 volts, and you turn the key to hear a click.

Do I have a bad ground? Is there a bad relay? Are there blown fuses? Are there wires disconnected that should not be?

Any help is greatly appreciated as this thing has a wiring harness about 2" in diameter and my manual shows nothing on electrical diagrams.

Thanks in advance!

First thing to do is check the grounds, negative cable at battery and frame or block where it grounds there. Then alot of Bobcats have a bunch of ground wires coming to one of the starter bolts in a big wad these are bad to corrode, they need to be brightened up from time to time.

As I re-read your post you may want to check the positive cable as well, if you can back feed the system with a charger and get all the lights and a click it may just be a bad cable.

"I steam cleaned it..."
Did you try to start it immediately after steam cleaning??
If so, and it hasn't been more than a day or so, it may be that you blew water/condensation into something electrical and it's grounding out or blocking current.
If it hasn't been several days, sitting where it's fairly warm, it may just need to dry out.

thanks fella's:

I took battery out and had it checked (it was ok). I took the battery back home and installed it, she fired right up. Must have had a bad connection at the battery.

Thanks,

John
