Someone asked about the Farmtrac situation earlier. I went by local Farmtrac dealer today. He said managment keeps telling them they should know something about possible new purchasers in a week or so but they have been telling the dealers that for the last six months. Suspicion is that the missing money went to India, but the Indian company says money is still owed them. Sounds like a variation of the old corporate raiding to me. Dealers here may be reluctant to take on Indian tractors in the future.

The company that was financing the tractors, Textron?, is managing things and tractors are availiable with a warrenty. The local dealer has sold some of the Ford copies, which makes sense since a lot of the parts are interchangeable with the older Fords.

I don't know if the Korean made Farmtracs are the same as any other Korean tractors. These are compact tractors and appearently perform quite well.
I rarely see one in the shop and the mechanic says they are holding up well.

Youve rarely seen one in the shop? Heck, I've NEVER seen one in person!

This is a classic lesson in buying QUALITY. Buy something that has dealer support, not just something cheaper. Buying cheap stuff will sometimes come back to bite you in the a$$!!
