12 valve95 Dodge bent oil pan ,,.

I Need a New oil pan . I think one of my wonder whiz helpers hit a stump some 5yrs ago ,,. The oil pan never leaked, but now , i want the front seal redone , the truck only has 380,000 miles since i bought it in Jan. 1996. My mechanic believes it best to get a new pan. instead of having a rounded bottom it is folded at a 90 degree , and is moist with oil ,. so a leak there is immennent ,. I just dont know the best place to get a good deal on a oil Pan ,,. Thank You in advance ,.

I usually get things like that off of Ebay. Free shipping on most things. Rock auto has good prices and I've bought quite a few products from them. Just beware that their shipping is spendy and not always very fast due to the companies they ship with.

Plenty of options available locally or online, you just have to decide how fast you want it or how much $$. Locally it's about $200, online is half price+, amazon is 2nd day, Ebay (cheapest mentioned) and rockauto have it too but they will be a little slower getting to your door.

Not sure if you have done one of these or not, but you will need to lift the front of the engine about 2-3 inches minimum to get the pan out. You also might have to rotate the engine so the counterweights toward the front are not facing down.

Looking at prices on Rock Auto I never found them to be very reasonable. More like the high priced end of the market for things. So I have always passed them by. Is the pan a csat or extruded aluminum? If just a tin pan bang it back out like it was. I've done that before on pans and tappet covers I found bent when I had them apart. I even with a screwdriver handle rub the dings out of the pans My wife cooks with can't tell they were there when done.

My new 2007 GMC truck had an oil pan issue. The dealer replaced the front seal many times before they finally replaced the oil pan.
Nice to have a 5 year 50K warranty. Dealer replaced the oil pan when it was out of warranty because it had a history they couldn't fix the problem.

Ive done a couple returns with Rock Auto recently, one was a part that didnt match the application, the other was a filter that was mis boxed. Both times filled out the online form and got a prompt refund. The wanted the filer back gave me a shipping label. Told me to toss the other part.

Seemed pretty easy to me.

When someone says "12 valve" they are commonly referring to the first-generation Cummins 5.9L Turbo diesel. Especially when the word "Dodge" is in the same sentence.

Referring to your V6 gasser Dodge as a "12 valve" is likely to get you beaten senseless in the wrong crowd.
