There are a large number of outdoor pig farms in our area, my son works on them. The land is light and free draining and the pigs live outside all year long. They do have individual shelters with plenty of straw which is delivered by tractor and forklift.

That idea left us over here. Pigs on pasture would be unheard of today. Our great western sentinel would surely find cause with such ideas.

If you're thinking of the same "western sentinel" as I am, they already have a rule that on any pork brought in from another state, the farms that raise it have to adhere to the same standards and rules as in their state. There was a big hoopla here about that a couple years ago.
