best money you ever spent

A follow up to rocky ridges 10 buck investment. What is the best money you ever spent? For me, it
would be a Pro Tote towing device for semis. We rarely hire a wrecker any more. It is made in South
Bend Indiana. It hooks to our 5th wheel and we are able to tow another semi backwards. If we have a
breakdown in Chicago, we hook a good truck to it and tow it to the broken one, and then haul the
broken one home. I think it was $7400 a few years ago. There are weeks we us it 3 times and then we
might go a month and not need it. I will get a pic next time we use it. How about you? Bill

Probably the JD 7000 6 row planter I bought used back in 1990. It was a fixer-upper but the dealer gave 10 percent off on all parts that I bought for it. The previous 2 planters were not good in terms of closing the seed trench but this was. Should of had one sooner but then it was the rough 1980's and lots of guys including myself were fairly worried about the future.

Have had many good buys that worked out to be exceptional pieces of equipment, but the used Great Plains no-til drill has been one of the best.

I'll go with something newer too. Only had this about a month or so, but it is slick in a dirt floor shed or if you want to work outside under a tree or something.

My wife disagrees but I always say it was buying the 6 acres in 1993 adjacent to our 6 acres that we bought in 1983 that we built on. Then, followed that in 1993 with an additional 5 acres adjacent to the second six. I made provision for future development/splits/improvements and, after 7 years of playing on 17 acres, I sold 5 parcels leaving me with 3 acres. All that I/we need.

22 yrs ago, $30 to take my bride out for our first lunch date. Incredible woman, I was definitely out of her league... 8 months later she knocked me on the head and dragged me to her cave.

It would be one of three things. The 4020 I started farming with. Owning a grinder mixer to make my own feed or the silage bagger. The bagger did enough custom work to pay for it's self several times over and gave me unlimited silage space. Tom

For me in my shop it would be the 6 ton bridge crane, we replaced a large part of our crane in our tool room. I bought a large part of it for scrap value and with 2 3 ton hoist for 3600.00, cut it to size and put it up. Save you back and able to do stuff if help not around.

So far in my 16 years on earth is $1000 for this m with a loader. It is true what they say, if you get a loader, you'll use it more than you ever thought you would.

the used JD 16x7 B drill i bought at an estate sale for 150 bucks.. brought it home greased it and have drilled with it every year since..

Where do you start. Probably the diamond ring I handed my almost 60 years ago wife and she accepted it. Outside, on the farm side, the $600 used GB front end loader I put on my 4020 about 50 years ago and is still in use today.

As far as equipment goes, probably selling my 10 foot bush hog for $1400 then buying a 15 foot batwing for $1000 and trading my 830 Case and $1200 for an 1170 Case. That outfit has made me lots of money mowing CRP ground with minimal investment in equipment

Best 120 bucks i ever spent was for my new air bag Jack . Here at the house i have a gravel/. slag drive and turn around , Fighting with and OLD floor jack would bring out my PTSD and neighbors would run for cover . I himhawed around on it then pulled the trigger . OH MY GOD , it moves on the gravel/ slag with ease , it is light it fits under a low slug car and POOOF the car or what ever is UP . It even works in the grass . Only weighs about 45 pounds and will lift over 3 ton. . They make bigger . I might even get a second one i like it that much.
