Downloadable Service Manuals

Posted on combine forum, thought I would post here as well (maybe more traffic). Been searching for electrical schematic for 4420 combine. Found Farm Manuals Fast website and was wondering if anyone had any dealings with them? Supposed to be out of Nevada, founded by someone from Iowa. Thanks, Paul

I think that's the place I got the download for the 66-8820 combine tech manual. If I remember right I did have to get ahold of them after I purchased the link because the link didn't work. They sent me an email with a working link and then I saved it to my computer. Not the greatest quality pictures but readable and tells me what I need. Even John Deere's official electronic version isn't that great of quality anyway.

John Deere publications website. I think ops manuals are free for most things. Service manuals get a bit speedy but yours would be pretty tame compared to most new things I bet around 50 bucks

I don't know about this particular manual but I tried a cheap online download several years ago for my 9560 combine and was not very satisfied. I ended up downloading the diagnostic and test technical manual from Deere (not cheap but several hours with the dealership mechanic in your driveway using this same manual to work on your machine isn't cheap either). It is very thorough and takes you through step by step testing procedures to identify problems - 10,000 pages but a very good table of contents that allows you to jump to the section you need. Your 4420 will not be nearly as complicated as it is pre everything electronic. I've spent several hours in mine this week because after I washed my combine up at the end of harvest, it now refuses to start. Have narrowed it down to a circuit board that had gotten dusty and then wet - bad seal on the central control unit box. GRRRR

Used Farm Manuals Fast several times. Very satisfied. Get them immediately with download, no shipping. Can print pages to get greasy without messing up a manual.

IF all you want to do is look at them You can look at a Deere manual in PDF form online with no cost. At least I just did that for a 9610 combine the other day.

That's what I have been trying to do. Gleaned some info from the online parts breakdown but would really like to find a schematic that shows how things are routed.

I hear you ADB-IA.It seems like every year it's something different with this combine! This one is plenty complicated for me with all the sensors and such. Don't think I could handle one with a computer in it! I can't even stand the newer cars and trucks.

If YT sold this manual I would not even consider doing this, but since I see no offering from them and there Search features do not seem to cross over into the mothership ASAPs inventory I will post this here. The post is only for the purpose of showing the possible clarity or quality you could get from a down load manual. It allows you to view the 1st 26 pages only interrupted by an add every few pages. I think it is possible you could get this manual downloaded at no cost by just setting up an account. It is TM1237 the same manual shown by Farm Manuals Fast. But whatever you do with that beyond the preview is up to you. I will say this, if you find other sights that are heavily indicating everything is free beware. Especially if a bunch of odd named reviewers pop up whose screen names seem to indicate they would never look at a mechanical book just do not go there, they are looking to dump some viruses and whatever in your machine. As far as Farm Manuals Fast I have not personally used them but as the one poster here gave it a thumbs up I have heard second hand that they are a reputable outlet with relatively clean scans or PDF copies.
As far as Deere manuals go I do not think you can view a ..service or repair.. manual free, only the Operators manuals are no charge and can be downloaded free.
As far as the newer combine models having a 10,000 page manual I have no doubt of that. For the 9650 model mentioned the Deere Publications site does not tell you the amount of pages, just that it is a tad over $800!
Shows possible quality of a DL manual

Thanks. In my searches it seems everyone offers at least a portion of the TM1237 manual, some are complete. When I was on the JD publications website, I think all the manuals had some cost associated with them with the Operators Manual being the cheapest ($50 range if I remember right, it was late). At least the site I mentioned (Farm Manuals Fast) gives a preview of topics covered in each section of TM1237 they're selling, they show two sections on electrical, so you can decide which one you need. They also offer the complete TM1237 much cheaper than Deere. Paul

The John Deere Operator's manuals are free to download. The free download icon (down arrow with a line under it) is to the right of the manual title. If you want a printed or electronic copy made and sent to you, those are the prices you see below the Operator's manual title, you have to pay for those copies (and shipping). The square with an arrow in it above the download icon means you can click there and open the manual online without downloading it.

The other manuals give a preview if you click on the ''eye'' icon at the right of the title.

You likely know you can use the online parts catalogs at partscatalog.deere.com for free. If not here is a link to the 4420 parts catalog there.
