During the late 1950's and early 1960's the Fordson Super Major was the main tractor on the majority of British farms but the one tractor a Ford dealer feared more than any other was this one. More powerful and with a ten speed gearbox with independent PTO, not live, like the Major. What stopped this tractor becoming even more popular was the problems with British Motor Corporation and British Leyland workforce which was always going on strike during this period.

Who was it that claimed In the market, Quality is always displaced by Cheapness.

They claim Ford prospered by making repair parts and service so cheap. Longevity was
more appearance than actual. Total annual cost of utilization was what mattered.
