The homestead where I grew up as it looked in 1901. The house and barn are still there. My grandfather is wearing a straw hat and sitting on the horse, great grandfather is holding the horse. Still in the family and being farmed. Western PA.

It would be interesting to take a new photo, standing in the same place, for comparison.

Very nice. What's interesting to me is that you could date this 1850, or earlier, and I wouldn't know the difference. So little change in the years before 1901, but what a lot of change since!

Green township, Indiana County, PA
I have been meaning to take a current photo from the same spot, need to make it a priority, and will post the results on here later.

Looks like where I live in swPA {Beaver County) My great grandfather built the house I live in now. Same L shaped house but we have more windows. It was built in 1899.

Looks a lot like my home place,I own it now doesn't look much different than it did 70 or even 100 years ago.The Old House as we called it behind the house I grew up in built in 1902 was built in the 1850's as far as I can find out.

I know it's an older thread to which I have previously replied... but truly a grand old farmstead!!

I assume the shown peak-end of the house must face the cold north wind... s8nce only one window on that end.
