sediment bowl gasket

This morning I decided I need to clean out the sediment bowl on the MF 65. The cork gasket that I knew was in the bin containing carb parts didn't seem to exist any more. That happens here too often. I went to TSC with little hope and sure enough, none and the employee didn't even know what one was. I was going to order some off the interweb but texted my cousin near Victoria. He was in town and going to go right by Victoria Farm Equipment. Six are on their way to my house right now! Life is good.

If you were going to buy one and pay for shipping you could have bought several for the same shipping cost. I run into the problem from time to time and I try to add something else I want to the order.

I was looking at a pack of 10 on Amazon so free shipping but the deal with my cousin worked out better. He paid for them.

I keep a roll of cork gasket material for just such emergency. I keep it in a zip lock bag. Don't know if it helps but makes me feel good. Lol

I tried cutting one once. Bad news, it didn't work. Good news, I stopped the bleeding quickly.

Thats the way to do her. Need one and buy 6. Then when you need another one later on down the road, you can't find the other 5. And even if you can, they might be all dried out or damaged.

I don't buy multiples for this reason.

If cork is dried out oak it in warm water over night or for a few hours and it will re hydrate for the most part and work to flatten out for cutting without breaking.

Why would you even bother asking in a TSC unless you were just looking for an excuse to unfairly put down young people? It's not like the store is infinite in size, and everything is out on the shelves and racks. You know where the tractor parts aisle is. Walk your butt back there and look. Maybe take the employee with you and show them what you're looking for so next time someone asks, they might have a slight chance of knowing instead of ZERO chance.

These kids don't know everything about everything on every shelf and peg in the store. They're kids. They need to be taught if they have any chance of learning, but all anyone's interested in doing nowadays is complaining about them.

Barney ...... I'm with ya on our generation's obsession with being critical of today's youth. BUT, when I read WJY's post again, I don't
think he was being harsh or critical at all. Read it again and tell us what you think. All he said was that the staff didn't know where the
gaskets were and actually, he made no reference at all to the staff's age young or old. I think you were reading between the lines of your
own book in this case.

We have a Farm and Fleet and I have the same problem trying to even get someone to help you out. But I have to say that the new, young employees are by far the most helpful. The old employees make it seem like a bother to even talk to you. Always say to myself when someone does help "they won't be here long". And they are not!

My 706 gasser desperately needs the fuel bowl and strainer cleaned but every time for
the last 30 years on my Super C and F-20 when I have cleaned then, they have leaked!
A 10 minute jobs turns into a 1/2 day headache!
