tractor tires

Pressure wash with soap and water and maybe a scrub brush and keep them out of the sunlight is as good as it gets. Maybe use spray nine to.

dupont used to make a brushon product named rubber dressing. we would paint a tractor then brush the tires with that. let it dry they looked ew. seems like is was simply a brush on quick dry rubber coating made of rubber compound
might ask at a big tire shop or automotive paint store maybe an older auto parts store. not orielys or autozone. might look on flea bay opps ebay

Put your tires in a time machine to keep them from aging.
Age is your biggest enemy.
This tire was 11 years old

You are lucky to get more than a 6 year warranty on car tires.

I have no proof, just my opinion. Putting ballast in a tire causes the sidewalls to flex more than without ballast. The flexing will cause the sidewalls to crack. Again, no proof, just my opinion.

Keep tires out of the sunlight, UV damages tires.

(quoted from post at 19:39:02 09/27/23) What is good to clean and preserve old tractor tires ?

Best you can hope to do is make them look better. If they're not too chalky the various "tire shine" products will make them shine for show, but will also attract and stick dust and dirt to them. Chalky dried up tires can be covered up with "tire paint" that's frequently mentioned on this forum, but it's only a cover up.

If a tire is rotten, it's rotten. There's no reversing that. Anything you do is like putting duct tape on the hull of the Titanic.

If a tire is not rotten, it can look pretty bad and still last a long time.

You just have to use them. The flexing causes the carbon black, which serves as a lubricant and protects against drying and cracking, to migrate slowly to the surface. No flex no migration surface rubber falls apart. Google it.

That makes sense to me. The carbon black is there to absorb the UV to protect the latex. That's why you will never see tires available in colors, though it would be a good sales feature.

Loaded tire crack because of the fluid where do you come up with this BS Geo. It does not affect the side walls flexibility or shorten tire life. We have tires on tractors that are long old by your standards that look fine and run with no crack problems. I have had to change some after being on for 25-40 years for cracks in the tread with the tube starting to show through. We have some tires on Stiegers that were never loaded and have cracks, so how does that work for those cracks. They must have been loaded I suppose you will try to sell me now?

Any treatment with petroleum distillants will make the tire age/dry faster. That means 98% of the tire products out there will make it pretty... but DRY out the rubber and age it FASTER. As to the car world, your replacing the tires in 6 years or sooner anyway. Think about that on your tractor tires. Do you want to replace them every 6 years?? oxidation, ozone, heat, ultrviolet all contribute. The heavier wax, water based protectants work well ironically. However as the tires are used, you will need to reapply every 5 weeks per the science. If they sit, not so much. Parking inside helps.
