Yesterdays Car

Not a tractor but definitely yesterday's car . Picture from this morning when I had the 52 Merc out for a short drive while waiting for the weather to make up it's mind. Had not started it since the August 12th car show so naturally had to prime the "teapot" carburetor. I wanted to get some autumn scenery shots but the sun did not co-operate.

I always enjoy seeing pictures of that car.

I had a '52 once, only it was light blue with a dark blue top. Had nice sounding dual exhausts with glass pack mufflers. I was back and forth between Nebraska,
North Carolina and Florida several times with it.

(quoted from post at 04:00:34 09/25/23) We had a '53, looked lot like yours but wine colored...
Its pretty hard to tell the difference between the 52 and 53 Mercs unless you have spent as much time working on them as I have. Regarding colour, mine is kind of a wine colour too. Known as "fanfare maroon" but its hard to tell in the lighting on my photo. Here is another pic of it on a sunny day.

Flat head V8s in my hood had temp problems due to the routing of the exhaust gasses through the block. Had block cracks between the valves and or exhaust valve to cylinder...don't remember which it was but an auto repair shop in Houston specialized in fixing that crack and had a string of customer's cars going around the block waiting for their turn. I had a '36 V8 and mom had a '51
