Fabricating hydraulic hoses

I'm currently in the process of switching out an original Dearborn 19-23 control valve with a Summit P40 valve and looking for available mechanics that specialize in fabricating hydraulic hoses. I've been communicating with a reputable and knowladegable member, no offence, but in need of a local mechanic, within reasonable distance of Union Mills, Indiana that can assist with advice, fabricating and supply parts and hoses to complete my upgrade. I have notified the member that I was previously communicating with and advised him that I will be researching local mechanics. Let me know if can assist or if that's something you wouldn't mind doing. I will compensate for parts and service.

Local mechanics that specialize in fabricating hydraulic hoses tend to work in hydraulic shops. Many NAPA stores also fabricate hydraulic hoses if you can tell them what you need.

In our area there are many many shops garages auto stores rental houses etc that
make them, lots more than a few years ago

Talk to a local full service hydraulic shop to see if they do field work or have a recommendation. Ask at your local garages and contractors for leads.

You simply need a competent hydraulic specilaist, not a rocket surgeon. There are literally thousands of folks working in hundreds of stores/shops that can do the work for you. Reading between the lines I suspect you are looking or a bargain - this is not the area to save a buck or two. It will cost whatever it costs and to get good hoses you will pay it.

I used to make up hydraulic hoses with
whatever ends you wanted when I worked at a
local Cenex/Farmer's Union CO-OP. That was
a while ago (over 18 years), and I'm not
sure if they still offer the service or
not. I haven't been back in the shop since
the day I quit.

My local Bumper to Bumper parts store made up the power steering hoses for my 5105 JD. Most
parts stores that are supplied by Gates have hydraulic hose fabrication equipment and fittings.

Something I hadn't considered is that you may be looking for a "come to my place and figure it out for me" style of service... You can save yourself a LOT of money if you do a little research on your own and learn the various fittings.

These are the ports on the Summit P40 valve:
A & B Work Ports: #8 SAE O-Ring (3/4"-16) Thread
Inlet Port: #10 SAE O-Ring (7/8"-14) Thread
Outlet Port: #10 SAE O-Ring (7/8"-14) Thread

These are also known as ORB (O-ring boss).

You should be able to buy a few adapters and use existing hoses. I would expect the old Dearborn valve to use 1/2" NPT for the work ports going to the cylinders and 1/2" NPT or 3/4" NPT for the inlet and outlet ports.

When I was very young we would go swimming at
Union Mills, Indiana. Mom would pack a lunch and
we would have a pick-nick. Thanks for the memory
of Union Mills.

I have relatives that live in Laporte, Hamlet and
Knox In. My late brother address was Union Mills.

Before hospitals were common, I was born at home; Hamlet.

Charley Surma (sp?) from Hamlet, if he is still
in business, is a good old boy that works on old
tractors.

He used fish with my BIL in the winter at
Leesburg Florida.

If that number doesn't work let me know, I call my BIL who
lives in Knox, In.

That is what he posted: ''in need of a local mechanic, within reasonable distance of Union Mills, Indiana that can assist with advice, fabricating and supply parts and hoses to complete my upgrade''.

I'm not necessarily looking for a bargain but cost effective. It may cost me more than I want or more than necessary but it has to be done. The recommendations so far has been great but was hoping to connect with a more local member that has knowledge of reputable shops or mechanic specializing in tractor loaders such as the dearborn 19-23. As mentioned in one of the recommendations, it's not a rocket science trade that is necessary but experience with fabricating hydraulic hoses, knowledge of the dearborn 19-23 assembly on a 2N, knowledge of hydraulic fittings and parts. The new summit valve I purchased was recommended by a member I was working with previously but that gentleman is extremely busy and too far away. If I had much more time to work with that mechanic , I wouldn't be posting this topic. I have to get this done before 1st heavy snow fall. Appreciate your input.

I did try to reach several local shops and unsuccessful. No return calls, outdated business status, closed due to academic, etc. Some want me to bring the tractor to the shop. No such thing as mobile mechanics in this area, i guess. I'm not limiting myself to YT but it's always been my best option so far. Hoping to get a reply from a mechanic that could be more available in local area. Side work option, advice, someone that has a little time to spare. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly capable of disassembling the old valve, re-mounting the new one. With the generous help I recieved from previous member, I also have a parts list. I just can't commit and finalize all the parts needed for this conversion. I'm dealing with converting NPT pipe fittings to JIC/Boss Oring fittings. I'm thinking if I had about 30 minutes to an hour facetiming with a flexible mechanical member, it would provide enough knowledge to replace this valve. My problem is, when I get started I would like to finish it same day so the tractor doesn't have to sit more than necessary. Like a week or more! Hope this explains my post more in depth.
