Allis Chalmers D14

I have an Allis Chalmers D14 that I plan to get running. I'm a novice at all this.

The distributor fits into what is called a drive housing.
The drive housing is missing a "plug", or some type of line that I cannot determine what it is. The opening is currently covered by a bottle cap (the way it came HAHAHA). Obviously that is not original.

Second and final: the valve cover came unattached, and I have no clue what type of "nuts" are required. Are the Allis specific.? The valve cover gasket info I have.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

AllisD14 from North Carolina. This is not Allis Chalmers country. There were only a few B's in the neighborhood in my life. The only tractor my father owned. Thus my interest in the D14.

Welcome to Yesterday's Tractors. My first advice, in that you are working on an Allis Chalmers, is to pose your questions on the Allis Chalmers forum below. Posing them
here as well is also a good idea as there are guys here that have been working on Allis Chalmers tractors since they were three years old. It's just that there are some
world class experts on the Allis Chalmers forum that seldom or never post here. DrAllis will know every nut and bolt a D14 should have.

As to the distributor drive plug, are you looking for Key #2 in the drawing below, part # 70228141?

It is no longer available from AGCO, a 'net search came up with a dealer that shows one in stock, you'd have to call and see if they really have one!

The valve cover studs use a common nut with a flat washer and rubber ''packing'' under the washer.

(quoted from post at 06:46:19 09/15/23) Good luck with it. I've had a D-14 for thirty years - most reliable piece of equipment I own. I would suggest getting a shop manual for it

Thanks Part Time Pete. It's going to be a "toy".

You tagged onto someone else's thread about a D14, from months ago and posted a picture of something, with the note: "Here's the picture".

I suggest you start a new thread of your own and provide details of just what this is and what it goes on along with a description of what you are trying to accomplish. You have posted before about an Allis Chalmers B.

Jim, it seems possible that this is the same poster using a different username. Since he would have had to sign in under the new software it may be he did not realize he could reset under his previous username if he had forgot his password. Maybe, maybe not.

I understand your point, Right or wrong, I went with the hunch that wasn't the case here as this member started posting about a B carb starting before the changeover and all 7 posts have been about a B carb, up until this one. Nothing in this post needed a picture for clarification that I could see. We shall see if he returns with info.
