Buyer/Sellers - How to You Advertise on FB Marketplace??

I'm curious as to how many of you buyer and sellers advertise on Facebook Marketplace because for one there are so many scams and so many dealer/fake ads. I liked the Craigslist from 10 years ago when most all people used that and it worked. Now you have so much shoved in front of you its hard to find stuff and find stuff near you.

Secondly, how do you advertise "Wanted to Buy" or "WANTED" ads on Facebook Marketplace? They prohibit wanted ads, and I've found that I get some of the nicest finds and best deals by posting "wanted" ads. It also helps people understand what they have and the fact that if it isn't for sale, they will consider it when they see the ad. I am getting to where I won't use Craigslist because noone else seems to be using it.

I had good responses when I had a lot of hay left in spring to empty the barn. I only got on it to use the marketplace. Bought a couple items there
too. I only give a general location and specify PM or text only to my cel, not home phone. I don't like the still available button. Too easy for
people to just click and forget it. I don't answer them. I sold a couple of things on C-list but no longer. Had no luck searching on it.

Clist changed their format a year or two ago, and now you can't distinguish between commercial and private sales. That screwed it up big time. I agree, it is hard to search and get meaningful results.
Marketplace will get you better results, but their ads are still overcome by those people who use two pages of keywords to get their ad in front of you. It's just business to them, but it's Monkey Business to
honest people. steve

be very careful if putting wanted ads on anywhere. That is the only time I get scams
saying I have what you are looking for. they even send pics of exactly what you want
but are scans. One guy was going to deliver me a strait cut combine header from 4-500
miles away for no extra cost. wanted $750 for a very nice looking header. worth 3-5
thousand.

I've been buying and selling stuff my whole life.I have been using my wifes FB account some, but things have changed
selling stuff. The change really started with Clist.People found they could sell their own stuff by just clicking
keys, not having to write an ad,send it in,etc. There have always been idiot responders,as in,you're asking $1000,but
I'll give you $200. cash.I always put in the ad,respond and you will be given a number to call.Or,respond with a
number and I'll call you.I don't have texting, and I'm not in front of the computer all day.Probably 3/4 of the
responses she sends numbers to never get back to me.I get a lot of,I don't talk on phones, and I only text.We can
find out more about each others junk in a one minute phone call than in 15 texts.I'm not typewriting back and forth
with a perfectly good phone in my hand.We got a response on a motorcycle I had for sale a while back, the guy said he
shouldn't have to talk on a phone just to buy a motorcycle. My wife told him if he wasn't smart enough to talk on a
phone he probably shouldn't be trying to ride a motorcycle.

No, what I am mainly asking is HOW DO YOU POST 'WANTED' ads on FB Marketplace? They don't allow them and will immediately delete it or ban the ad. Those type of ads is where I had my best luck with because people might not know what they had laying in their yard or barn until they see the pictures of them in my 'Wanted to Buy' ad.

I find most facebook advertisers don't post phone numbers and won't answer emails. Therefore, no sale. I have seen several things I would buy , but am not able
to make contact.

Have you tried a title such as:

Any John Deere tillage or tractors

Then in description have something like ...

I am in need of such and such.

Just do not use the word WANTED anywhere.

Put the ad in the section you would look in if you were buying.

People looking to sell something will look for what is for sale to get an idea what theirs might sell for.

I do all of the above.

CL did not make that change in my area until about a month ago.

I noticed that when searching for a refrigerator, I got 1500 results.
Then when I filtered the results to owner ads the results were reduced to 1498 "owner" ads.

No way that many vs dealer ads.

FB marketplace good by me. You can see the profile of who is contacting you and if you have any people in common.

Say you are selling a tractor, you can see the buyer has been on FB for several years, knows two people you do and all their public photos are farm related stuff, you are likely dealing with a real person who is serious.

There are quite a few ads by lazy people.
Too lazy to delete the ad after they sell it.

FBM needs to have the ads expire after a week or two.

My experiences with f b is not good. They sell stuff
under ur nose after u tell them ur coming to pick it up.
Scared to say where they live, wont give a ph number.
Basically its a joke. Went through all that b s. On there.
As I say I talk in person when I buy stuff I never buy just
by texting.

My experience has been ok buying and selling. Lately
most of the buyers and sellers use a public location or
police station to complete the deal. Cant say I blame
them. In the event I dont get a reply from a seller I figure
they arent serious about selling. I always contact sellers
when I am leaving the house to make a pickup.

Ive had decent luck.

you have to remember you're dealing with people... many people are idiots sad but true but if you keep that in mind you won't be as disappointed or frustrated. I usually post WILL NOT REPLY TO is it available lazy people reply with that then never reply to your reply.

I have meet people at neutral public places as well as at the house or farm. I don't mind that as long as its not out of the way as i don't want every tomdickandharry at my place.

is annoying to say i'll be there at X:00 and you get there and they are no where around. BUT that can happen with a newspaper ad, CraiggsList or whatever you use.

you can also weed out the scammers a bit by CASH ONLY no trades.
as with anything buyer beware.

Thank you for the reply as well as others. This is what I'm talking about. I've tried to get creative, but not in these exact words. I'll give it a shot, but I know a few years back I tried to post several times on "Looking to Buy a 1951 Ford Truck" and every time it was shot down and deleted.

f it's against the rules, I don't think you should be doing it. Maybe it's just me, but isn't that what's wrong with our society today? People saying: "the rules don't apply to me".

I don't see anything wrong with posting wanted ads. Lets not get into Facebooks "rules". haha.

Ive made close to 10 grand this year alone gettig rid of some of my junk on Marketplace this year. Granted it was some higher end stuff, tools, boxes,
antiques, etc. but last year I sold alomst everything I had tractor related except for some manuals and books and cleared around 30 grand for all that junk. I
always state facts, and that I contact those asking in order and work on a first contact first serve basis. I have only had one person NOT show up and then whine
about it 3 days later. I only have one thing left for the year, then next year, if I make it that long, will go through the house and the second building selling
off a good bit in there just to simplify things. Ive lived too long cramped up with crap. Time to take a dump and stretch my legs.
