Hello guys I 'am having a water pump changed as soon as it arrives. this motor was out for rebuild 2 yrs ago. I 'am being told its a 3 or 4 hr job what do you all think about that time frame?

Guessing you have a John Deere 301A. It is a good idea to fully ID your machine when asking questions. Sometimes the same model numbers were used by more than one manufacturer and some reused some model numbers on completely different tractors like JD's 420 Ag or 420 LGT.

Reasonable estimate, if it comes apart easily and thing go ok it should be on the 3-hour side. If it has a loader that can add a bit of time unless it can be positioned out of the way and blocked from moving.

Randy, I just did mine about a week ago, if the engine is out it's about a 1/2 hour job. With the engine in you need to take the hood off, drain the rad. ,take the shroud loose to get at the fan bolts to remove it and then take the pump bolts out after you remove the hoses, it's pretty straight forward after that, if it's a diesel you have to pull the hub off the old pump and the backing plate to use on the new pump, if a gasser the pump comes ready to install. You can't use a gas pump on a diesel. Check the casting # on the old pump if you're doing it yourself. My gasser had a diesel block in it from the factory and I found out that was a common practice back when these were built. It's one of the easier repairs to do, you're standing up all the time!
