1984 JD 510 backhoe 8 Speed Transmission

Just bought this big piece of iron, it has 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gear but not the rest Forward gears and 1st & 2nd Reverse is also gone I m gathering (building) the gauge set for all C1, C2, B1, B2, B3, B4 & C3

To not have the gears I listed above make me believe the C1 is out - How big of job is that and maybe hints or suggestions

I Have the manuals and parts book but Transmissions always make me believe it s something I can t tackle but I m retired now and have the time to learn - I have most of the tools needed - just need someone that has tackled the 1984 JD 510 Backhoe before
 
This is a 510 and not a 510 A,B,C or D ? The JD specific forum will have more FD experts .
The free online JD parts book will show what is common with the agricultural 3020.

Are you sure you don't have a reverser? I have a 410 that is similar
vintage. It has a 4 speed transmission with hi and lo range, so 8 total
gears. The forward/reverser lever is on the left side of the steering
wheel. 8 speeds ahead and 8 speeds reverse.

Mine is 8 Forward and 4 Reverse and it does have a Reverser but only for the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th. Here s the breakdown for checking when I build my gauge set
