I saw this yesterday at HCOP. What is it? Combination silage cutter and ear corn picker?

Gehl had the PC-80 Pick-Chop head that worked on their FH & SP80 series forage harvesters. Chops the whole stalk on one row, pulls only the cobs off the other. There was also the SH600 for the CB600 & 800, which was a two row snapper head only. Why anyone would waste the stalks is beyond me. Looks like AC might have been on to something with that setup.

This a machine Case had to harvest ear corn and stalks separately, but at the same time. The idea was you harvested the grain for livestock feed or for sale, and the stover was collected for feed or bedding. It was an idea ahead of it's time, and didn't sell many. The idea comes around again periodically- the last in about 2008-2012 when the ethanol industry was looking to harvest stover to make cellulosic ethanol.

Thanks for posting the picture, there aren't many of those left in existence.
