Value of Grain Auger?

The good news is that my corn looks good! I planted it on June 5, in North Missouri, so it's a little later than most. We got 6 inches of rain 2 weeks ago, kind of perfect timing for the ears to fill out.

I need to buy a grain auger and a cart, but I've never bought a grain auger. I see that some of the older ones are cheap. There's a sale this weekend, I'd like to buy one. I'm farming small, so I'd like a low-cost auger.

Can I ask your help on estimating the price that you think these will go for? I don't know how to judge them.

Here are 3 at the Sat Sale, all PTO driven, that's what I want.

The first one is American Auger 8x60
The next one is a Westfield W100-41
The third option is a Westfield WR80-61

I have a 986, so it has both PTO sizes

open covers see how worn flighting is plus if reflighted the tube has considerable wear. i know your not needing the best but eye em close. seen 1 couple years back real shiny new like well kept but the tube was so thin it opened up in middle of highway

I go for cheap and have had good results. I like Hutchinson augers for the balance to lift them they balance well and are not so heavy you can't trun them by hand or adjust them. We have a New Idea auger from new and it was always a bit heavy to lift and maneuver fo using be it to load trucks or fill bins with. I bought 2 augers from a dealer both were Hutchinson augers one a12x30 foot and the other a 10x40 both have some wear on them and the one had a dent in the side. I since have cut the dent out and welded a piece in place of it and painted with galvanizing paint seems to be fine. I paid less than 2000 for both and had them hauled in. We now have about 5 augers. I bought one that is almost new that has been laid over.I am going to straighten it or replace the tube have not decided which yet. Only paid 500 fo it. It's Cardinal auger. It is also heavy on the bottom to lift and is a 10x5? thinking about adding a couple feet to the top when I fix it. One of the reasons for the tube replacement if I go that route. Looking at the thickness of the tube and wear on the flight is the biggest issue. Get as big of an auger as you can afford. Another words you will out grow an 8 inch pretty easy and if you think you need a 6 inch go to the 8 inch. 8's are pretty popular so plenty of them around used. The hutchinsons we use are the 2 previously mentioned and a 60 foot 8 inch we use on another
farm and stays there now. I would like to put the 2 inch over at that place for load out in the fall as we fill it. We use that bin for surge space during harvest mostly then leave it filled when done there.

I say no on all of them. I hate those augers with the PTO so close to the end. You can not shove it in a bin to empty a bin. And the tractor tire is so close to the truck when unloading. I like the belt drive PTO ones. I just paid $250 for a 8 inch 51 ft Westfield in good shape. Manitoba

Did you ever notice that most farmers have two, three, or four auger sitting around?
Just look sometime. They should be cheap.

Locally, $300-500, $1000+, $300-500.

WESTFIELD!!!!! It doesn't matter what it costs. Buy a Westfield. That's all they do is build augers. Boy, am I ever glad I bought a Westfield. I shopped around and shopped around but I lucked out supremely. I bought a Westfield. Did I mention? That's all they do.
