1958 620 stuck in neutral

I have not run my 620 in about fifteen years and I can't get it to shift into any gear. Any tips on how to solve this problem?
Thanks, Ed

Sometimes from sitting the shift rails
will rust, normally they are lubricated by
oil splashed by gears going around.
Sometimes you can get oil in from the
tower but if not you may have to pull the
cover to loosen them up.

can't get it to shift into any gear.

More details as to what you mean.

Is the lever moving forward. reverse, sideways or not moving at all?
Or is it moving freely, and grinding gears in every gear your going for?

(quoted from post at 20:59:47 08/14/23) Take the top cover off and lube the shift rails and whatever else needs it. Ron MN

Had to do this with my '47 B. Took a little persuasion to free up one of the rails. Now I make sure to run the stick through the gears every now and again while the tractor awaits its turn in the shop for a manifold replacement.

I somehow managed to get my 620
transmission stuck between the high and
low range. The shift lever would only
move into reverse, one and four, but the
gears would not engage just like it was
in neutral position. I pulled it to the
shop and lifted the cover off and got it
realigned. Now I hold my breath when I
shift it.

The 15 years of sitting might be the main
factor, but have you had any kids playing
on the tractor over the years? Funny
things happen. Let us know what you find.

x2. My son used to play on the '49 A, and he pulled the stick out. I had to buy new snap rings and put it back together. Little snot didn't know his own strength!

Of course, I am now glad he's so strong ;-)
