Ford 6000 for sale locally and way to big for my use. Selective shift.
Just wondering if there is any interest. Located in southern Michigan.

The first generation Ford 6000, around 1960, was the first new tractor my dad owned and it was in the shop more than in the field. Ford later gave my dad the second generation 6000. If I recall the first tractor was gray and the second tractor was blue.

Ford may have gotten the SOS right, but I'll never take a chance on a SOS.

Dad bought a used 6000, first generation. Never had a transmission issue. Later traded it for a new 8000. Driven all colors since, but the 6000 was the most fun to drive tractor I ever got on! Just bought myself a 5000 Select-O-Speed last month.

Geo is tight. My wife's uncle had a farm scrap yard in the 50-60-70 and 80's. He sold more ford tractors than anything else, after the boys removed that useless SOS transmission and converted them to standard transmissions. His brother in law bought a new 6000 SOS, he had it 2 years and they took it back and gave him a 3000 to use. He kept the 3000, he told them to keep that useless piece of crap 6000.

I'd sure like to have one, but it'd have to be super cheap. I'm so cramped for space, I don't know if I'd even have room for a toy 6000. Is it an early one that would have been a red belly? That's the one I want so I can paint it back to original. I wish I knew where it is, I'm heading down on the US 12 sale today.

I looked at a pair of Commanders a while back. They wanted 3K for the pair, one wide front and one trike. WF ran but smoked blue and he said the other had transmission issues. I always thought it would be interesting to tear into an SOS but I passed on them.

Thanks for the pro and con on the 6000. Located just south of
Kalamazoo, Mi. I will post back when I get more information.
