Something a bit different this morning but still farming related. Cattle on display at the Royal Norfolk Show which takes place a few miles from me. It is one of the oldest agricultural shows in the country although, today, it is more about food and new cars than farming. The men in smart suits are stewards, farmers and farm workers who look after the exhibitors and keep the whole thing running smoothly. Part of their uniform is the rounded hat called a 'bowler', it is now more associated with the City of London financial area and a common site there but it was a Norfolk invention, originally made for the game keepers of the Holkham Estate, owned by Sir Thomas Coke and designed to protect their heads when they were tackling poachers.
