I think my injuries and damage were more work related then fun related. Never broke anything skiing, hiking, rock or ice climbing.

Some of the pain is by me. Not a lot, just my shoulders, back, hips, thighs and knees. Constant pain. some days I don't hardly do anything because of it. Shortness of breath doesn't help either. I didn't work too hard in my younger years, I just didn't think while working. It was always well, I can do that. I started thinking too late.

I blame a good portion of mine on various impacts with immovable objects while skiing, motorcycling and snowmobiling. I can't say however that it was limited to my "young feller" years. Unless you consider 60s a young feller years.

Yesterday was our 59th anniversary and I told the wife that "I enjoyed the day 59 years ago more than today".

I don't know. There's no sense being stupid about it, but I sure wouldn't tell a young person to wrap themselves in bubble wrap, stay inside and play video games all day. I can laugh now about every scar that I have. I can make up some stories that leave kids with their mouth open about some of the big ones too.

I'm telling you guys, and most of you just don't want to listen, there's a big difference between working and working out. If you work out, you can keep working. We were talking about it in the auto parts store one morning when Jeff's weight loss was getting quite noticeable. When I said I work out ten minutes every morning, Paul asked me how I had time. I told him I gain time by doing it, I can work another two or three hours a day because I feel so much better. A lot of folks' eyes get wide with disbelief when I tell them how old I am.

Mom always said that waking up with aches and pains is just God reminding us that we are here for another day. Some days the reminders are a bit louder than others!

I say do stuff while you can. The day comes when you can't no matter how well you think you took care of yourself. gm

Absolutely right, but it's all about quality of life. If you can get another 10 or 20 years with a better quality, why would you choose to just give up and sit down?

+100000000. i try to stress this to everyone. i don't care for the kind u stick in your ears, i prefer the headset style. i now own 3 pairs of them. i have one in my basement at my work bench, one in the machine shed, and i recently got a third for the ground floor of the house. why? because i caught myself almost doing a job without any on for laziness to walk downstairs and grab the pair there.

i love these, comfortable and effective:

That absolute worse thing you can do to your body is to stop working. When your body stops working it starts dieing. Fresh air and physical labor is the best medicine.

I told my doctor at my yearly physical that I want done to me what they do to old work horses that can't work anymore. Lead me out behind the barn with a bucket of my favorite food, Let me have a couple bites and then put a bullet in the back of my head and bury me.
