Weed eater wire wheels?

Any body tried one of these yet? They look pretty rugged. Are they bad for your weed eater? How big should I get if I was to buy one? Do some weeds just get wound up on them? Thanks

Haven't tried one, but Project Farm on YouTube did a comparison of different types of trimmer blades. The wire wheels did not perform well at all in his test.

(quoted from post at 21:15:02 07/15/23) How long until someone gets wire imbedded in their leg, or God forbid in their face or eye
How is it any worse than a hand held grinder with a wire wheel?

i watched the commercials. itseems like they are clearing weeds growing over concrete, but no major big weed removal. i have a stihl fs90 commercial trimmer and have used the stihl blades on it. they do wrap up pretty quick. looking at the size of that wire brush, i would think to need a pretty stout trimmer to handle it.

Anyone that uses one without safety glasses on is taking a risk, just like the hundreds that I see riding motorcycles without helmets! They say you can't fix stupid, but in some cases it gets fixed! I have a heavy duty weed eater with a carbide skillsaw blade on it, it works really good on tough plants like sweet clover.

I would think it would be a good way to start a fire, from someone who has started four from rock strikes mowing in the past years. anything metal spinning on the end of a line trimmer, or under a mower, is not recommended here in California in the dry season, which is now. Stan

Stan,
Only you can prevent wildfires!
Do you have enough insurance if you started a wildfire in California?

I dunno, they look to me like they'd load up with weeds real quick and youd spend a lot of your time picking them clean.

this.

I can see them being handy for removing weeds growing in a block or paver patio. Certainly not for long grass, surely it would just wrap around the head.

I do carry insurance, but my best insurance is my two fire extinguishers, and a shovel. I wish I had them one time. Stan

What if you started a wildfire and burnt down many houses, who pays then?
Or is it like a hit and run?
Start a fire and run like hell-0 I was never there?

I agree!

Looks dangerous. Might work good on large rusty metal surface. Maybe scraping off paint on an outbuilding. Sure wouldnt want to accidentally touch my shoe. I hate to see someone using a line trimmer wearing shorts and flip flops!! Duh.
