Tebben bush hog

anyone know anything about Tebben bush hogs? I haven't heard of that brand until looking around.

looking at a used one TC94-600 which i believe is a 6 foot unit.

looking at their procures for their current model they seem/look like they are heavy built.

also looking at a 6ft Woods Brush bull. It is a bit more $ than i probably want to spend.

Thanks.

about 11 years ago I bought a 56 ft. Brush Bull (Woods) and paid $1800 for it. This was more costly than other brands, but still worth the difference. You cannot go wrong with one, Yes they do cost more.

Whatever you buy make sure the stump jumper (blade mount) is round, not oval! We have a 6 foot Bush Hog with an oval blade mount, and I just spent 2 days repairing it. the whole blade mount broke off the splined hub on the gearbox. I had a hard time getting the hub off, but finally did, and then welded it all back together, and it seems fine now.

I have a Woods M5 five foot mower that came with an 8N that I bought. I have been using that mower on my 5 acres for over 20 years now. It did not have a stump jumper when I got it however, I was able to find the stump jumper you see below from Messicks. It's very heavy sturdy stump jumper.

it's been a great mower, never a problem with it, except a new pair of blades.

That is a sturdy stump jumper! If I have trouble with ours again I going to try to find an aftermarket one
for ours, but Bush Hog seems to have a different output shaft on the gearbox. This is what ours looked like
a couple of years ago after I reinforced it. But 2 weeks ago the center hub broke out of the bar, so the blade holder and blades were laying on the ground behind the cutter. I had to split the hub to get it off, even though I used anti-seize on it, and always keep it inside. Anyhow, I got it all welded together again and have used it about 10 hours with no problem. We have a lot of rocks and stumps, so I set it to mow higher and I loosened the slip clutch a little.

If its oval, its more of a stump beater, not a jumper isnt it in your pic? A round stump jumper will get on top and win over the top of an obstinate. Your oval deal will drop down and the long sides will whack the stump.

Exactly what I was thinking. Very poor engineering went into that thing. My Woods M5 just has a flat blade bar at the bottom of the shaft. So, you can see how the stump jumper above bolts to the bar.

Exactly, that's the problem, it got bent so bad it was hitting the deck, I straightened it out 2 years ago and put gussets in it, and it's been fine since, until it broke off the hub. All fixed again now.

It may be working but I have one question to ask. With all that repair is the thing anywhere near balanced anymore?

so no experience with Tebben Bush Hogs????

Sorry, no. But you mentioned Woods mowers so I just told you that I had a good experience with my Woods mower.

understood. my FIL has an old beat up Wood M5 that has done well. Most problems have been in the rear wheel frame being bent or broke.

I think the Tebben will be more in my price range especially for mowing 2-3 acres 1 or 2 times a year. if i was mowing more i'd definitely consider the brush bull more strongly.

both are used.
