Looking to sell my MM G706 w/o a lot of tire kickers.

I would try selling it on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace first and if you can't sell it in a couple months then take it to auction. You'll more likely get more selling outright since you won't have to pay at least 10% commision and prabably get a better price since people can test it out thourally instead of just guessing how good it is at auction.

In my area, Craigslist is almost completely ineffective, while FB is scam laden.

Still, it doesn't hurt to try either.

He said without a lot if tire kickers. Craigslist and Marketplace are the two biggest sources of tire kickers.

It also limits you to a local area. A Moline with 4x4 is going to be worth a lot to the right collector, which unless you are in a big Moline collector area, who is never going to know its for sale advertised on Craigslist.

Investigate all options. Most auctioneers put the financial burden on the buyer nowadays versus the seller in terms of fees. If internet based auction your tractor will be in reach of far more perspective buyers than a strictly locally based sale.

I do... a lot of local actions. I see results all over the map... from give away to almost what a new tractor cost. I see everything up front go very high,, while at 8pm at night I get very very good buys as all the weekenders have gone home by 4pm. I usually see certain brands always bring great prices and off brands bring nothing. And by off brands, I mean not ford, kubota, or deere. SO. while it cost you nothing to put it on craigslist... AND you can run it multiple areas on craigslist to get to the right market. BUT you do have to suffer many fools and wanna-be's. Once you put it in auction, you pretty much loose all control unless you put a reserve on it, and if you do, you pay a higher fee for something that did not sell.

If you used craigslist... clearly state....

State the model and brand, trans, pto, 3pt, pwr stg, condition, pictures all 4 sides and of tires. Pic of hours, and in some cases the shifter. Starts good, no blowby, does everything it should. >>>> Describe it so there is no need to ask the common questions. Then add in the second paragraph >>>

No shipping. No checks. NO selling over the internet. You must buy this in person. If ad is up, its for sale. See map for location and address. Call only to make appt to come see and drive this tractor.

This will make the scammers pretty much go away although you will still get a couple of robo emails or texts.
Ive had captains on submarines tell me they could not come see it so take their check.. to I'm serving in Antarctic to Iraq. Any email that say...kindly.. but 100 plus tractors later and its free. When it rains, I sell all the tractors I have. When its dry, things are very very slow.

Don't take this the wrong way, but by this thing being a Moline, it might take some advertising to find the right buyer. As in, it might be in your best interest to advertise more than just in your local newspaper. If it were mine, I'd place a classified ad in a state wide farm newspaper that we have in my area. That would likely catch the eye of some Moline enthusiast, as there aren't really any in my immediate local area.

I just bought 2 tractors off Craig's list. As stated herein enough info and close enough to load up with a pocket full of cash, my trailer in tow and head out. Both succumbed to haggling which to me is part of the sale on used equipment. Both had servicing and piddly little inconveniences for me to tend to but both are fixed up now to suit me....and I'm picky. The money saved in the purchase covered the fix-in-ups cost.

So much wrong here.

You can NOT "run it in multiple areas." The rule is ONE ad in your local area, period. They can detect when you are not local to the craigslist you are trying to post to now. They can detect when you spam the same ad multiple times now. Most likely you will come back to find your ad deleted.

Don't put "No scammer" garbage in your ad. Scammers don't even read the ads. They just respond. Even if they did, they'd laugh at you and try to scam you anyway. All it does is annoy the legit buyers who do read the ads, who then flag your ad because you come across as impossible to deal with.

Wanna argue with me about it? How about you try it for yourself and let me know how it works out...

I sell all mine on Facebook marketplace. You learn what a scammer answer looks like and ignore them. Of course ' tire kickers' are always welcome, it's like a tractor show and I don't have to load and haul, folks come here!

I agree. The only auction I would consider selling it is one that is fairly large and you know will be well attended. It takes at least two bidders to run the price up - what you are selling might be desirable, but it has a very limited market. At a small auction you could easily end up taking it in the shorts. To be honest I know a lot of people, but I don't know a single person that collects MM tractors - in a crowd of 100 you might have one collector that will be willing to run up the sales price - you need two.

Online auctions would seem like the way to go - but how many MM collectors are that connected to Big Iron or Auction Time? You can either deal with the tire kickers or you can let it go cheap - you won't get it both ways.

Not sure what you are trying to say. There is an IH 56 planter in Leroy, NY which has been posted on CL Finger Lakes and CL
Williamsport, PA as well as CL Rochester, NY. Same posting number each ad. It has been up for a few days now. Certainly not the
only ad listed in multiple areas. Maybe allowed as long as within a range to home?

I bought my tractor on Craigslist- so it obviously works! Seller didn t have to do anything besides answer my phone call and show it to me.

No. You are only supposed to post ONE ad, period. You're kindly asked at the beginning of the ad posting process to please post only one ad in one category on the craigslist site nearest to you.

Moderation is reactive, not proactive, so you can post your brains out and think all is well, but come back a few days later and find out that some or all of your posts have been removed. It's not like they have armed guards on the walls that shut you down the moment you take a misstep.

Any reason you might have for ignoring that rule is not relevant. Just be aware if/when your posts get removed, that is probably the reason why.

I don't know about you but when someone is giving me something like that for free, I like to respect their wishes.

Yeah, but you have no idea how many tire kickers and scammers he had to wade through to get to you.

Actually Plowhand, nobody else has noticed the fact that you 'kinda' broke an unwritten forum rule here. You advertised your Minnie on Tractor Talk FOR SALE under the guise of you having an issue with tire kickers. You should have advertised it here in the YT classifieds. I suspect there are all kinds of MM collectors here that are not tire kickers. While you're at it, why not tell us how much you want for it? Naughty Plowhand .... LOL !!!
