Go to drive truck today!

Neighbor turned to short and damaged the driveshaft on his baler. So I baled the rest for him. Then he asked if I would drive truck for him as well. Sure was a nice morning here in northern Utah. Not sure what year the newer truck is, but the old one is three years older than me. A 1950. I think the picture would make a nice puzzle!

That reminds me of a couple loads when there were just a few left in the field and not a long drive to the barn. I don't remember ever having a stick to help the wires to ride up over though.

Drove trucks like that a lot in hay fields.
One was steep and I lost all bales one time and had to reload.

Dad used a loader, similar to that one. it attached to his 54 chevy truck. sure made loading bales easyier. Good memories. Stan

I was the youngest boy so I had to drive the truck.
We had a hay hiker too. I wasn't old enough to get my foot on the gas pedal and clutch at the same time and see out the window.. Then my brothers would yell at me if I jerked the clutch. Sometimes in granny gear things would get a little jerky.

I thin I started driving when I was about 10.

Someone would have to run ahead and make sure the bales were lined up and watch for snakes in the bale.
NO one fell off the truck.

I hauled hundreds of bales , maybe thousands with a truck and kneib pop up baler alone. Id of given anything for a driver. Dump six in the bed. Stop climb up and stack them. Then repeat process - all day long.
