Wireweed (sida acuta)

Has anyone here experienced wireweed (sida acuta) in your pastures, lawns, hayfields, etc. The plant has extremely strong roots when established. If so, what did you do to get rid of it??

My dad had a couple of patches in a hay field and when the mower bar would hit that,it would pound like a trip hammer and the mower bar would want to go back,not sure how we got rid of it,but it was some mean stuff!! I was just a 12-13 yr old kid at the time!!
