July 4th in a small town

Way off the beaten path in Southern Illinois in the tiny town of Jacob their July 4th parade is a tractor parade. They had 91 tractors registered, the route was a couple miles along the main road to town with spectators lined up the entire way! And lots of kids young and old with water guns spraying people, it actually felt good on a hot day. It was a great day with good food and a live bluegrass duo. Met up with Tgrasher and his daughters and had a great visit as always! We will definatly make this a yearly event to attend! Here are just a few pics from today.

Good looking show.

The parade I went to today in Goreville only had seven tractors, all John Deere. Hope to get photos off my phone and put on the computer in the next couple of days.

Did you get wet at McLeansboro ?
 
What a great time, and everyone we talked with was was as good as people as you can find. Thought about taking an umbrella next year but I'm afraid that would just make me a target.

On a separate note, someone on this forum once asked, how do we pass the love of antique tractors on to the next generation. Yesterday was certainly one way. Seeing the faces of the kids, watching the tractors go by, I saw them wanting to have and drive a tractor too.
 
Yes, with all the mas shootings lately you don't want to look like a target, I thought about that at the fireworks last night. People wouldn't even realize it's gunfire until they were hit.

I have passed on two of my antique tractors before I'm dead. Same with tools. Give them to people who want them. Let people know they will get cars, trucks or tractors when you are dead.
 
That looks like a really good time, I know I would have enjoyed it. Thanks for the pics.
