The hydraulic remote cable on my Allis 7040 broke in the cab.I was able to find the part and installed the new cable. It seemed as though I had installed it correctly but when I attach a implement ,I am unable to get the hydraulics to lift. The cable behind the tractor is attached to a plate on a rod. I am unable to move this plate manually. I there a way I can physically check to see if I have bigger problems than a remote cable? I only have 1 set of remotes as the other cable broke years ago and I had no need to replace it at the time. All told I have spent 6 hrs on this problem and have accomplished nothing.Any help would definately be appreciated. Thanks Dan

With the engine running and standing behind the tractor while it is in park standing clear of the implement, manually move the bracket connected to the remote valve and see if it operates then. Also, make sure the cable housing is properly engaged in the anchor at each end. Is the PTO and 3 point working?

Try loosening the disconnect fitting to release pressure.

i CHECKED THE PTO AND THE 3 POINT.BOTH WORK WELL. HOOKED A PLOW TO ONE OF THE REMOTES AND THEN WHILE IN NUETRAL,MANUALLY PULLED THE PLATE FORWARD WHICH TURNED THE SHAFT.hYDRAULICS RAISED THE PLOW. tRIED REVERSING THE PROCEDURE TO LOWER PLOW. NO GOOD. UNABLE TO GET THE SECOND SET OF REMOTES TO WORK AT ALL MANUALLY , BUT I ONLY NEED ONE WORKING SET. i WILL TRY TO INSTALL THE CABLE AGAIN .i''LL KEEP YOU POSTED. dan

Well,I'm stumped. Installed the new cable ( made sure it was in the anchor slots) Hooked up to a soil finisher and tried the hydraulics. Nothing. The inner braided steel cable pulled out of the plastic cover. Was able to slide it back inside. Its as if the steel cable is to long.Moving the inside lever does not move the activating rod at the rear of tractor even though the outside part of the cable is tight. Also I tried to raise implement from the back, nothing. What did I miss ? Also,is there a work around, where I could use the tractor now and control the hydraulics from the rear of tractor? In a time bind now and really need that tractor for a few days. Thanks Dan
