On my old 2004 F250, its developed a very noticeable wheel screech. I kept thinking it was a rock or something in the brakes, but Ive put 40-50 miles around the farm on it and it comes and goes - but mostly stays ha

Ive never had a wheel bearing make that much racket. Any ideas on what to look for when I get it in the barn to check it out??

I Have A 2002 ford f250. A couple of years ago I ran into a deer crossing the road in front of me at early evening. The bulk of the force was taken by left front wheel and bumper. After that I had rhythmic scratching sound coming from that wheel. Checked the brakes, and nothing wrong. Ended up replacing that hub and the noise stopped. hope that helps. Steve.

Its actually the opposite. Loud when going slow and seems to fade in and out more at speed. But sometimes goes quiet while braking

Its only got 140k miles or something.

I had an oldsmobile with that symptom from the wear indicators. Loud when slow and not braking, silent at speed or when brake applied.

Had a similar thing a year ago. Picked up a rock between my dust shield and rotor. Horrible dry screeching sound. Pull your rotor and see what's going on. Watch for falling rocks.

Usually brake wear indicators screech when the brakes are NOT applied. And will quiet down when brakes are applied. And not noticeable at higher speeds.

Is it a front wheel or rear wheel and 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive? What corner of truck? Not a mind reader. Different location could be different cause.
