A red baler that works....

And works well! The knotters are getting worn, but still hold to spec for the most part.

If I can find 7200' twine again, those bales would be brick tight. There's 9000' in there now & it blew out on three bales. If it wasn't a flat spot, it was a rat's nest where it untwisted. Oh, to have good IH twine again!!

Enjoy the vid!

I like my 46 pretty well. Most of the time when there is a problem the twine has broke and not the baler missing a knot. I've seen a lot of thin areas in a ball of 9000 twine and that area will break on a IH baler. I agree with you 7200 would be better and just quality twine in general would help.

It s fun baling when things go smooth. If ya can find a way to get it from Michigan I have 8 bales of 7200 in the shed I bought for the old NH 67. Since I got the JD 338 I would rather use the 9600 plastic it is set up for.

I'm in SE WI & am apparently flanked by 7200 between you & Chester. :v)

The offer is appreciated, but I'm hoping the local dealer gets some in. It was on order & not on the pallet when it arrived.

Since the bale wagon came around, 7200 is usually in the twine can. That 9000 isn't good enough to hang a mouse! The knotter on the IH baler is a good one if kept after. I've had very little trouble with mine & if there is any, it's sharpen the knives or slow down.

I have a IH 47 with a thrower sitting in the shed, hasnt been out in daylight for over a decade now. The last year I used it I made 3,500 bales of second and third cutting hay and 4,000 bales of straw. All first cut was chopped with forage harvester. I only used 9000 twine. I offered to sell the baler to a fella for $250.00, but he wanted it for $50.00. Ill probably haul it to the scrap yard and get that. They were good balers, and I had a IH 46 with thrower before this. I could kick 100 bales on a wagon in 20 minutes, and I had 4 wagons. My boys got sick of helping handle bales, so I switched to big round bales. Thanks for sharing your video, takes me back to my youth.

(quoted from post at 16:15:19 06/11/23) Don't know when I'm heading that way any time soon either, but I appreciate it. You do anything more with your thresher?

Mike

No. To many other things going on. It s still in the corner of the shed waiting for me to get to it.

Last baler was a McCormick 46 with thrower. Sold when cows sold. First was a New Holland 66 and 7200 twine was not yet thought of.

I got a red baler that works great,I run plastic in mine, sisal is garbage anymore

Thank you for sharing. Think you mentioned the 47 baler before & I didn't know you still had it. Also can't believe you can't move it for $250. That baler around here would have been long gone by now.

The Red Power Roundup is coming up & now may be the time to advertise it. Maybe catch the eye of someone going to or from the show.
