I really like this old tractor--1961. Runs with great power and fun to operate. ONE PROBLEM----The engine is some tired and likes a little nose candy to start. Once running it is a beast....
Don't like using ether-----What tricks are out there for quicker easier starts??

I have a 5 Star thats way sometimes. Have couple M5s as parts units. 1 has PSB pump, other has Stanadyne pump. The 5 star will pop and crack till warms up.

A block heater, would be the easiest and most practical also would be ready for winter that way. Use a hole with a plug in the intake manifold and use a propanr torch stuck in there while cranking to suck the heat anf fire into the cylinders. Works very well with no ether at all. I use the cutting torch with a bit of oxygen on so it looks like a regular flame only a bit longer. Starts right off.

Youre doing the quickest and easiest to start it. Not going to hurt it now. Its summer time and that small sniff dont hurt a thing. Most important is to have a good battery to spin it fast enough is the big thing or 2 in parallel.
