Looked out of place today

When I mow fields some times they are along road ways, and the cities want the weeds cut along the road edge. Today I was by my self cutting weeds with my line trimmer, that my flail mower didn't get, along the road. Cars going by thinking that poor old white man doing that kind of work. Mexicans do all the gardening around here. I tell people I do that kind of work because I still can, and don't mind doing it. About an hour or so of that I am ready to get back on my tractor. Stan

no weed eater here, but i use liquid weed eater ROUNDUP yes ROUNDUP. 5 minutes with weed eater my arms grow numb

I know what you mean. I have seen the same thing from clients teenagers or young adults and passerby people. You can see in their faces and language, that poor fellow having to work hard like that. I just chat, take their money, and put it in the bank. Its hard for people to understand wanting to do something versus having to.

Carpal tunnel. Easy test, easy surgery to fix. Do not let them do general anesthesia it is absolutely not needed. Get a Bier block local for just the arm. In and out of surgery in like 30 minutes, heal fast and likely do the other side in about six weeks.

I had both done about 7 years ago now and not the slightest issue since then. I was edge carrying concrete blocks 2 weeks after surgery and I can run a weed wacker, chainsaw, grinder, etc. all day with no issues now where before just an hour on a zero turn mower would have my arms hurting for like two weeks.

I've seen some landscape videos on Youtube and they put a aftermarket extension arm on the weedeater. Erconomics are better.....so they say.

I purchased a 40V electric string trimmer. Battery last about an hour until the batter dies, but that is OK because I last about an hour.

I had Carpal Tunnel surgery in both hands in 2000 and it did NOTHING, now worse arthritis 24/7 pain ever. Cannot work with hands hardly at all anymore. Blame it on 35
Years of working in manufacturing and engineering. Was a CNC Machinist/Programmer since 1975. Don't let them (docs) fool you. Of course they want to do the surgery; they
get kickbacks from insurance companies. Ditto with my gall bladder. Got two docs - one said nothing wrong with it, other said yes, we need to get that out now. I opted
to have it removed while they did my Roux En Y surgery. Still have the pain. AMA is a joke.

I haul my riding mower in to town to mow my daughter's lawn in Austin. I do the trimming and blow the clippings off the sidewalk and driveway. I get stared at a lot. I guess they think having an old white lawn boy is strange.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Did they do nerve conduction testing to verify the issue before surgery? That's about the only thing I can think of to explain no success - if CT wasn't the actual issue.

All I can say is my carpal tunnel testing was very clear that is was a significant issue on both sides, and the surgery resolved it 100%. As noted, 7 years on and still 100%.

Same with me.

I had my left hand done in 1981. The surgery took about a half hour and I was getting feeling back in my fingers within a couple of hours.

Took the rest of the day off and went back to work the next day.

No trouble since, nor have I ever had a problem in my right hand.
